In this mesmerizing artwork, the Waterbuck emerges as a symbol of grace and resilience within the heart of Africa’s untamed landscapes. The magnificent antelope commands attention against a background of lustrous gold leaf, infusing the piece with a regal aura that mirrors the grandeur of its natural domain. The choice of a gold leaf background imparts an air of opulence to the composition, emphasizing not only the beauty of the subject but also the intrinsic value of preserving the wild and its treasures. A band of delicate black lace gracefully adorns the canvas, weaving a narrative of elegance and mystery. This lace, akin to nature’s intricate design, serves as a poignant reminder of the delicate equilibrium between the human world and the untamed wilderness. The composition harmoniously merges the robust with the delicate, the untamed with the refined, inviting viewers to contemplate the inherent beauty of nature and the urgent need to safeguard it.
As you may know I have a deep love for African wildlife. Having witnessed them several times in their natural habitat during my travels to Kenya, South Africa and Tanzania has been a real life changer for me. This experience left me in awe and filled with gratitude, there really is nothing like it. Based on those feelings I have decided to do a new series of wildlife called ‘Stay Wild’ with the intention of creating more awareness for wildlife preservation. Through my art, I want to spread a feeling of hope and positivity, to do good for our beautiful wild animals so they can truly stay wild and live in their natural surroundings.
20% Of the proceedings of every painting in these series will be donated to Wildlife Trusts such as the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for the preservation of Kenyan wildlife, there is still so much good we can do to save the wild! This painting as Diptych together with the painting Kudu is available for the special combined price of € 2200.
